 World's Prayers Answered: Boys & Coach Extracted From Thailand Flooded Cave - we remember that one rescuer died trying to save them ... Saman Gunan 7-10-18, After surviving 17 days inside a flooded cave in northern Thailand, the final members of a Thai boys soccer team and their coach were rescued. We remember the one rescuer who gave his life trying to help the thirteen; Petty Officer Saman Gunan. Some boys couldn't swim so two divers escorted them out. The diver had lights. Surely these are young boys and they were terrified. The boys breathing tank was attached to the tank worn by a rescue diver. The final boy and the team’s 25-year-old coach were taken from the cave at 6:50 p.m. local time. The Thai navy confirmed the news followed by their slogan “Hooyah!” History: On June 23, 2018 the Wild Boars football [soccer] team had entered the Tham Luang cave system in the province of Chiang Rai during an excursion with their coach. Then Monsoon rains flooded the cave entrance pushing them 2.5 miles into the cave. On July 2, 2018 the dozen boys of a Thailand youth soccer team ages 11 to 16 and coach Ekapol [Ake] Chantawong 25 have been found alive in a cave complex after they went missing ten days ago. Two British divers were first to reach the boys were John Volanthen and Rick Stanton, both experts in cave rescues. Hundreds of officials from more than 20 governments, along with private companies, were involved in the search. Rescuers came from at least six countries, including members of the United States military. The chamber is about 2.5 miles from the entrance of the cave, which is thought to be about 4 to 5 miles long and cut into a mountainside near the border with Myanmar. When water levels dropped Sunday, the divers went forward with a more methodical approach, deploying a rope line and extra oxygen supplies along the way. In addition to the divers, teams were working to pump out water. However, the monsoon rains continued. As workers pumped water out the caves continued to flood hindering divers’ efforts to reach the thirteen trapped.
