Navy to forgive past fitness test failures, end most fitness discharges

12-22-17, Stars and Stripes -- On Thursday, 12/21/17, the Navy announced that it will forgive past fitness test failures for all sailors in the new year and will end its policy mandating discharges for ones who fail two Physical Fitness Assessments [PFA] in a three-year period. [Gotta reduce requirements because women are too weak.]

The PFA, is an assessment of a sailor’s weight and body fat content as well as a physical fitness test that grades them on their ability to perform push-ups, sit-ups and a 1.5-mile run based on their age. The new regulations announced Thursday do include consequences for sailor’s failing to meet physical fitness standards. More here

For most of us, choosing to be fit is more a test of will than a one time decision. Being "fit" covers a change in our lifestyle much more than just embarking upon a new exercise or diet program.
