USA: 'Palestine' is not a State

U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton told the White House press corps at a briefing in Washington DC on Wednesday (Oct. 3) that the "so-called state of Palestine" is not, in fact, a state.
The US is withdrawing from the "optional protocol" in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, John Bolton has confirmed. He said it follows a case brought by Palestine, challenging the US embassy's move to Jerusalem. US National Security Adviser, John Bolton said:
"I am announcing that the president has decided that the United States will withdraw from the optional protocol and dispute resolution to the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. This is in connection with a case brought by the so-called state of 'Palestine,' naming the United States as the defendant, challenging our move of our embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
"It’s not a state now. It does not meet the customary international [law] test of statehood. It doesn’t control defined boundaries. It doesn’t fulfill the normal functions of government. There are a whole host of reasons why it’s not a state.
“It could become a state – as President Trump has said – but that requires diplomatic negotiations with Israel and others. So, calling it the so-called state of Palestine defines exactly what it has been, a position that the United States government has pursued uniformly since 1988 when the Palestinian Authority declared itself to be the state of Palestine. And we don’t recognize it as the state of Palestine;.." More here and here

From the end of the Jewish state in antiquity to the beginning of British rule, the area now designated by the name Palestine was not a country and had no frontiers, only administrative boundaries . . . The Balfour Declaration of 1917, confirmed by the League of Nations Mandate, commited the British Government to the principle that "His Majesty's government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a Jewish National Home. Then in 1948 the United Nations gave it back to the Jews - with the rebirth of ISRAEL!

The word "Palestinian" was invented in the 1960s. Israelites, Armenians, Kurds, Assyrians, Chaldeans and Samaritans as all ancient names, but Palestinians as a 1960s invention.

#1 - Ahmad al-Shukeiri (1908 – February 26, 1980) was the first Chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization, [PLO] serving in 1964–67.

#2 - Yahya Hammoudeh (1908 – 16 June 2006) was the second Chairman of the PLO from 1967 to 1969.

#3 - Yasser Arafat (1994-2004) -He was born in Cairo, Egypt and third Chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) from 1969 to 2004. He was a founding member of the Fatah political party, which he led from 1959 until 2004.

#4 - Mahmoud Abbas (1935- ) - Current PLO chairman and President of Fatah. Born in Safed, Israel. His family fled to Syria during the 1948 Israeli war. Moved to to Egypt and graduated from the University of Damascus, where he studied law.
