California Homeless Population; Poorly Maintained Streets
"How Many Must Die Before Officials Address California's Diseases?" - - Dr. Drew
7-17-19, Dr. Drew Pinsky slammed the city of Los Angeles California for its inadequate response to the growing homeless crisis. As the threat of a plague [bubonic] looms over California’s summer. An epidemic that gets closer every day that the rat problem is not solved. He said, “We have the three prongs of airborne disease, tuberculosis is exploding, [and] rodent-borne. We are one of the only cities in the country that doesn’t have a rodent control program and sanitation has broken down. We had a typhus outbreak last summer , even the police have been infected. Bubonic plague will get onto the rat fleas; and we have this oral-fecal route contamination, which is typhoid fever.”
2-28-18, WebMd.com -- You may think that the plague, once called the Black Death, must be extinct, disappearing with knights in armor and village blacksmiths but it is here in the USA. The plague is caused by bacteria called Yersinia pestis dwelling in rats fleas; the bugs pick up the germs when they bite infected animals like rats, mice, or people.
Paul Gaylord contracted bubonic plague from cat bite: 'My recovery ...
2-3-14, An Oregon man who escaped death after contracting the bubonic plague from his cat tells of the terrifying experience. In 2012 sixty-one yr old Paul Gaylord was in a coma for 27 days on life support as his internal organs began to fail, his extremities rotting. The retired welder lost all of his fingers except for parts of both thumbs, all of his toes and a part of his right foot. He recalled that his cat Charlie showed up on the porch, swollen and choking on a mouse. He tried to pull it out, but the cat bit his finger ... Paul's symptoms kicked in at work the next day; fever, felt sick, skin turned grey he was rushed to the hospital. His under arm glands were the size of lemons; that's one of the symptoms of Bubonic Plague. Paul's condition was so bad that the day before he woke up, doctors considered pulling the plug. Paul said, "My recovery shocked everybody. I'd been told I'd be on dialysis for the rest of my life, but I had one treatment and I recovered. Everything in my body did, except my hands and feet."
