8-29-22, King Solomon proclaimed to the people Who God is and how they should behave. That both by our virtuous and holy lives that His grace inclines us; and by the eminent manifestations of His power and goodness in defending and delivering us from our enemies -- all nations may be convinced that our God is the living and true God and He alone shall we serve and obey. Thus Solomon’s prayers, like the prayers of his father King David are ended, Psalm 72:19-20, with this petition:
"Let the whole earth be filled with His glory." -- Benson's Commentary, https://biblehub.com/commentaries/benson/1_kings/8.htm

8-27-22, Although King Solomon had 700 wives and hundreds of concubines; God only gave him three children. One wicked son, Rehoboam and two daughters from Ammonite wife, Naamah who was the daughter of mother Zillah: Genesis 4:22; 1 Kings 14:21, 31; 2 Chronicles 12:13. There isn't any good said of Rehoboam; the worst crimes of the worst of the heathen in Jerusalem were committed by him. Sadly Solomon's only son was surrounded by wicked idolatry and even in his old age his father turned away from the one true God. He took foreign women who turned his heart. 1 Kings 11:6-10
We see that nothing can mend the hearts of fallen men, but the sanctifying grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. On this alone may we depend; for this let us daily pray, in behalf of ourselves and all around us. 1 Kings 14:21-31 https://www.quotescosmos.com/bible/bible-verses/Naamah.html --Matthew Henry, https://biblehub.com/commentaries/mhc/1_kings/14.htm *** What the Bible says about Solomon's Idolatry God was not well pleased with Solomon as he was influenced by his many foreign wives and concubines, Solomon became enmeshed in pagan worship. Failing to heed God's warning of the "snare" which foreign wives would become (Exodus 34:11-16), he allowed his wives to turn him to false gods. I Kings 11:4 sums up the matter of his turpitude: Solomon's "heart was not loyal to the LORD his God, as was the heart of his father David." 1 Kings 11:6-10 8-26-22, King David made his son Solomon king. After Solomon dispensed with God's enemies he declared that there would be 'peace from God forever.' The King had high hopes that because God was the Author of peace He would provide the perfection of it. Sadly, as recorded in Jeremiah 6:14, 8:11; Ezekiel 13:10, 16 in all four places it proclaims:
"Peace, peace; when there is no peace." See also: 1 Thessalonians 5:3 The free will of wicked mankind prevents peace.

8-24-22, * -- The grieving described in Jeremiah 9:13-15 could also reflect today's America. When the federal government uses policing powers for political purposes, no one in the land of Liberty is safe. And because of this nation’s spiritual condition, it’s akin to being fed a diet of wormwood and gall. [1] It’s time for all Americans to get right with God. We’re living in a time where the evil usurpers of the laws of God are using accusations and sensation in the absence of any fact to undermine what is meant for right and good. The Constitution of the United States established on the premise of inalienable rights given by God the Creator. Rights are not granted by government; they’re embedded in the precepts of God Almighty and bestowed upon His creation. Governments are supposed to be a terror to evil as described in Romans 13:3. When governments are against God, we must respond as did Peter in Acts 5:29 by saying, “We must obey God rather than man.” If we’re led by the Holy Spirit we will act according to our Godly gifts. | A nation can be changed; darkness can be eliminated by the Light = THE SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST. 2 Corinthians 4:6 [..] Each of us must repent [Luke 13:3] turning to God and stand — oh yes, we must now stand otherwise suffer a steady diet of wormwood and gall! [1] Wormwood is a bitter herb known for being an ingredient in absinthe [liqueur]. Its plant compound thujone can be toxic and even fatal in large amounts. Gall is a bitter-tasting substance made of a plant such as wormwood or myrrh. *Excerpted and adapted full original message from Bill Wilson, Daily Jot, here https://dailyjot.com/ Jeremiah 3:19-22, 25, 40, 59 My soul remembers my affliction and misery; the wormwood and gall - and has humbled in me. I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It’s of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. The LORD is good unto them that wait for Him; to the soul that seek after Him. Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD. O LORD, thou hast seen my wrong: judge Thou my cause. |

8-22-22, King David took the crown of the wicked king of Moab, Milcom - it weighed a talent of gold [between 67 - 75 lbs - some say over 100 lbs]. Many artifact experts and historians state crowns of Eastern kings; like the crown at Rabbah wasn’t worn on the head, but suspended by chains of gold above the throne. There are many archaeological remains from that period; King Saul is described as being remarkably tall - but David is never described that way - yet he had the crown upon his head. | Chronicles 20:2 “David took the crown of their king from off his head; it weighed a talent of gold and there were precious stones in it and it was set upon David's head." The 1997 Guiness’ Book of Records reports, with a photo of John Evans of the UK balancing 416 lbs. of bricks on his head, here: https://bit.ly/3AHZbEN . So we can easily accept that King David was strong enough to accept a crown weighing about 75 pounds. 2 Samuel 12:30; 2 Kings 23:13 More here -- Jamieson Fausset, https://biblehub.com/commentaries/jfb/1_chronicles/20.htm |
8-21-22, God said: “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed and fruit trees yielding fruit: and it was so.” Genesis 1:11 There are thirtyseven trees mentioned in the Holy Bible; here are ten:
| Note: Many of the trees of the Bible are used symbolically. As example the cypress tree is one of the tallest trees in the Holy Land of Israel and is often associated with death and the hope of heaven. It's often used to praise divine Wisdom: I was established in the holy city and my power was in Jerusalem; I took root in an honorable people and in the portion of my God His inheritance and my abode is in the full assembly of His saints. I was exalted like a cedar on mount Sion and as a rose plant in Jericho: As a fair olive tree in the plains and as a sycamore tree by the water was I exalted. -- [Paraphase taken from Ecclesiastes and Jeremiah] http://www.euxton.com/treebibl.htm |

8-19-22, The Hebrews were very afraid of the Philistine monster, Goliath. While the young shepherd boy, David was not, he said: 'I killed a lion and a bear, [1 Sam 17:34-37] I can, by God's power, kill this Philistine!' The boy challenged the huge man with only a pouch of five stones. David said to the Goliath: "Thou come to me with sword, spear and shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee and take thine head!" | Then David threw one stone hitting the giant in the forehead & killing him. Goliath fell on his face & David having no sword - climbed on top of him, taking HIS sword & cut off his head. [1 Sam 17:51] Arrogance & presumption of fools destroy them; nothing can excel the humility, faith & piety which appear in David's words. He expressed his assured expectation of success; he gloried in his youth, small stature, appearance & lack of weapons that the victory would be ascribed to the Lord alone. 1 Samuel 17:1-51 "With us is the LORD our God to help us, & to fight our battles." 2 Chronicles 32:8 |
He let Saul know that his pretended confession and repentance had made no alteration in the decree and sentence of God respecting the kingdom. He wasn't satisfied with Saul's repentance and confession as he tried to lay the blame on the people. This he said by way of resentment and expressed his indignation at him, although afterwards he changed his mind returning with him; which a good man may be allowed to do without any imputation of falsehood or a lie.

Who will deny that the USA has and is doing wickedly while blaspheming and scorning the Lord God almighty?
Is God in the process of 'consuming' America? Clearly it's long over due.
Why do we think that, although God punished the past wicked idol worshipers; He won't punish the future wicked?
Yes, the Lord Jesus came to save those who repent and trust Him as Savior [John 3:3, 7, 14:6] - but the scorners are not. More from Matthew Henry here: https://biblehub.com/commentaries/mhc/1_samuel/12.htm

8-10-22, Inspiration from John Newton, 1779 AD* How sweet the name of Jesus sounds In a believer’s ear! It soothes his sorrows, heals his wounds, And drives away his fear. It makes the wounded spirit whole And calms the troubled breast; ’Tis manna to the hungry soul, And to the weary, rest. Dear Name! the Rock on which I build, My Shield and Hiding Place, My never-failing Treas’ry filled With boundless stores of grace! Jesus! my Shepherd, Husband, Friend, My Prophet, Priest, and King; My Lord, my Life, my Way, my End, Accept the praise I bring. | Weak is the effort of my heart, And cold my warmest thought; But when I see Thee as Thou art, I’ll praise Thee as I ought. Till then I would Thy love proclaim With every fleeting breath, And may the music of Thy name Refresh my soul in death. *John Newton (1725–1807) began his career as a sailor and slave trader. Eventually, he became an Anglican minister and outspoken abolitionist after a dramatic and pivotal conversion to faith in Jesus Christ. Newton is best known for his widely loved and timeless hymn “Amazing Grace.” More here: www.learnreligions.com/biography-of-john-newton-author-of-amazing-grace-4843896 |
8-8-22, God told the disobedient Hebrews in Judges 10:7, 13, I will rescue you no more! The Lord is able to multiply men's punishments according to the number of their sins and idols. There is hope when sinners cry to the Lord for forgiveness and help; it is necessary, in true repentance and a cessation of the sin. God requires full conviction there be no idols in competition with the love and worship of Himself. Repeatedly the Lord was angered punishing the Israelites while again and again ... | ... He forgave and saved them. Let the the trembling sinner cease from the love of their sin humbling themselves seeking deliverance from the powers of darkness, separate themselves from sin and from occasions of it. They shall certainly rejoice in His forgiveness and mercy.
